Is 20 Mg Nadolol The Right Medicine To Control Blood Pressure?

My blood pressure usually runs 110/70. I am on 20 mg nadolol and 8 of atacand. In the last four months I accidentally lowered my atacand to 4 mg. All of a sudden my bp is 140/90. Could it be from this inadvertent decrease? If so, why did it take this long to show up?

Hi, i do care for your concern.
First thing to note here is, withdrawal or sudden reduction in dosage of anti-hypertensive drugs usually results in REBOUND HYPERTENSION that result in drastic increase in blood pressure that may be high than your initial blood pressure, at the time of starting the drugs.
Its highly advisable, not to withdraw or reduce the dosage without consulting with your physician.
The drug which you have decreased the dosage is angiotensin receptor antagonist, which when lowered cause gradual increase in blood pressure, which you are experiencing now.
hence it is highly recommended to consult your physician check your blood pressure, and get the dosage titrated according to it.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
