In Pain Behind The Shoulder Blade While Suffering From Cough A Matter Of Concern?
I've had a chest cold since January 6. I went to my doctor and got a subscription for an antibiotic (6 tablets/5 days). I took the last dose last on Saturday, January 28. I still have congestion in my chest and a cough. I don't have a fever or chills. A couple days ago a pain started below my shoulder blade in the back on my left side. I've heard from many people and reports on tv that there is a lot of flu going around. I don't recall doing anything that would cause the pain in my back under my shoulder blade. Is this anything I should be concerned about? Thank you for your help.
There's is no specific symptom for flu that pain behind the shoulder blades. It may be due to muscle spasm or nerve root compression or degenerated discs or fibromyalgia or shingles etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use painkiller medication, avoid smoking or alcoholism.
Use cough medicine. If symptoms not improved please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
