Ii Am A 72 Year Old Physically Active Woman. I

Ii am a 72 year old physically active woman. I moved a big rock, got a herniated disc, passed out and hit my knee a couple of days later. Had an MRI on my knee and it shows osteoarthritis and a minuscule fraying on my knee. It was very swollen but not now but still hurts both to the touch and standing or sitting for any length of time. I am using a crutch but does walking help it or hinder it? Should I go to PT for it? Does it heal on its own? Thank you.
