Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was working with my brothers in the woods. I was lifting heavy logs and a varicose vein on my leg kind of popped up towards the skin more. I got home that Sunday and rested for the evening. The next morning the vein was swelled and I went to the hospital Tuesday because at nights it bothered me. I visited 2 doctors, one at the ER and one at a clinic. The one at the ER Found high levels of D-Dimer which was like 1000, though this is a recent trauma or injury so wouldn't they be higher? Though they gave me 3 blood thinner shots and sent me home to set up a Ultrasound on my leg on a later date.
I went and got a second opinion from another doctor who took a look at it and said that recent injury would cause this. Since I did push that vein out of my leg that would cause it. So she put me on Augmentin for an infection around that varicose vein as well.
I always had those veins on my legs and never had any swelling problems with them. My leg feels good and there is no pain associated with the blood clots hardly at all unless I strain it through stretching for instance. I was wondering what your opinion on this would be.
Thanks
