I was sewing a button on a shirt before work. I set the needle on the bathroom countertop. Somehow the needle became stuck to the shirt as I was putting it on.

I dropped my hand to my side and felt a sharp pain, but there was no blood, no needle. I have a feeling the entire needle is lodged in the palm of my hand near the base of my thumb.

What should I do? There is a small bit of swelling that is fading, and no major discomfort.
