Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was licked by a stray dog 3 weeks ago on my hand the problem is I had a cut on that hand and it wasent healed also for the last week I've had a sore throat and sour muscles also I've got a slight headache that is either at the back of my head or the front. I went to the hospital for the sore throat an they looked at my throat an said I had strep throat and proscribed me antibiotics the problem is I'm scared maybe the dog had rabies and he gave it to me by licking the cut by the way I live in the United States in Hayward ca. When I was at the hospital I asked the RN if I could have got rabies from the lick and she said no because most dogs are vaccinated so I said ok but I was still scared of the possibility and they told me to follow up with my doctor for the strep throat so I called my doctor and to make an apt but they told me she would call me back when she called me back I told her about the strep throat and how the dog licked me an how I had a cut an stuff. I then asked her if it was bad that the dog licked me and she was like no you should be fine and that a dog mouth is cleaner than a humans and that I'm on antibiotics right now. Do you think the dog gave me rabies because I have a sore throat that is dry also my is sore but not really I have a stuffy nose and this sore throat has lasted a whole week before I got put on antibiotics I'm really scared do you think the dog gave it to me the dog fur was a little dirty as if he was outside for a day or two also my friend gave the dog some food and water that it drank please help me I'm scared is it to late since symptoms already arrived I have a slight stomach ache to
