I Was Diagnosed With Shingles By An Urgent Care Doctor

I was diagnosed with Shingles by an urgent care doctor a few days ago, although I never had the chicken pox. Is it possible to get the virus from someone that had the chicken pox. Also I have been experiencing ringing in the ears and tingling in the face, arms, and legs as well as headaches only in the temple areas on both sides of the head. Should I go to the ER for further test and can this be lethal?
