I Recently (three Weeks Ago)changed My Diabetes Medicine From Invokana

I recently (three weeks ago)changed my diabetes medicine from Invokana 300 mg once daily to Metformin HCL 500 mg twice daily. I also take Carvedilol 25 mg twice daily and Brilanta 90 mg twice daily. I take my blood pressure every day and it has increased from the 130(s) over 60(s) to 150(s) over 80(s). I am 65, 6'1", 251 pounds, non smoker, light drinker, quite active as I walked yesterday briskly 50 minutes up and down moderate hills and climbed 22 flights of stairs resulting in 60 minutes of aerobic activity. Also, before the Metformin I was losing about 1.5 to 2 pounds per week and now I have GAINED 8 pounds in two weeks. My blood glucose has been good testing in the 110-120 range everyday which is 20 points better than when I was taking the Invokana. Could the Metformin play a significant part in the changes in blood pressure and the weight gain?
Both the increase in blood pressure and the weight gain are very troubling to me! Help!
I have a scheduled appointment with my primary physician next week for blood tests for my A1C.
