Hello,

You are suffering from severe depression, pain in the body and excessive sleeping. You are on your prescription medicine for thyroid and taking citalopram presently. Very low dose of citalopram is recommended for people over 60 years of age. It should not be taken for long periods as it may cause heart disorder, sexual problems, mood swings, etc. You are suggested to consult your treating doctor regarding the dosage. (you have not mentioned about dose you are taking).

Excessive sleeping is a symptom of depression. It will deplete you of your energy and prevent you from enjoying anything that gave you joy previously. Take quality sleep at night (8hrs), so that you don't feel sleepy at any other time of the day. Plan your daily schedules, plan tasks for yourself that keeps you busy and gives you happiness. Try to go outdoors at least once a day to visit someone, go shopping for some necessary items, buy plants and tools for your garden, go to a café with friends or near ones, buy bools to read, hear good music, etc.

To keep yourself away from pain and depression include anti inflammatory food in your regular diet. Take food that will help maintain mental stability like a diet rich in lean proteins, nuts, and seeds, fresh vegetables, and fruits, and oily fish such as salmon, beans, and whole grains, etc. Increase consumption of warm, nourishing whole foods such as soup, kitchari, porridge, oats meal, etc. Avoid taking alcohol or addictions if any. If you feel lethargic take warm, spicy food, reduce cold food and smoothies.

Do regular stretch exercises and walking in the morning and evening. Get connected to a Physical therapist for massage therapy, aromatherapy as it helps to get rid of pain, depression and excessive sleeping. CBC, cognitive behavior therapy, talk therapy, group therapy are helpful. To reduce pain you can take Acetaminophen or Combiflam, one SOS only when you need it.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
