I Just Turned 50.... 5'8" 245 Pounds.... Always Heavy, But

I just turned 50.... 5'8" 245 pounds.... always heavy, but 20 weight gain over the last year - new job/promotion, working nights with slight stress increase that a new job brings. No HTN but distal swelling showing up in my ankles. My last physical showed an increased creatinine level...right at the high level. My doctor said that the upper limit was "fuzzy" and not a concern since I was not symptomatic. That was about a year ago.

Two weeks ago, after updating my fasting labs for the VA (The VA does not provide my healthcare.), I started noticing a light burning, bilateral at my flanks. My urinary output appears normal without any associated pain/discomfort. I have not seen the results from those labs and I have an appointment at the VA for hearing exam next week and I'm sure I will get the lab results then.

I just don't know if I'm seeing onset of acute renal failure. If so, not sure if I should wait until VA appointment or go see my doctor before that.
