I Have Recurring C-diff Infections Since 10/12/15 (I Am 72
I have recurring c-diff infections since 10/12/15 (I am 72 and take a lot of vitamins and supplements). The first was due to taking clindomyacin for a infected small lesion on the shin 9/27/15. My family physician prescribed levaquin+ metronidiazole+prilosec for 10 days but the pharmacy did not fill the metronidiozole and I thought the prilosec was a mistake. 6 days later I saw my family physician and he informed me that I was also supposed to be taking metronidiazole along with the levaquin. He also wanted me to take the prilosec to help the antibiotics get thru the stomach acid. When I returned to the pharmacy that day they told me the metronidiazole had been filled the day after i picked up the levaquin but they did not call me. This time I was prescribed metronidiazole+cipro+prilosec for 10 days. After finishing the 10 days about 5 days later the c-diff symptoms recurred and I had a stool test which was positive for c-diff. 12/3/15 my family physician told me to stop taking all three and prescribed vancomycin 2x /day(instead of the 3x/day in the literature as he was concerned about liver and kidney functions + I suggested and took saccharomyces boulardi along with it and the prilosec. Then my family physician referred me to a gastroenterologist to schedule a colonoscopy to check for polyps which is scheduled for Jan.26th. The Gastroenterologist told me he tells his patients to take the vancomycin 4x/day but for me to finish at 3x/day which I did thru 12/15/16. Then 12/21-12/23 I had a recurrence of the symptoms and on 12/25 I began, on my own, taking the rest of the cipro+metronidiazole+prilosec+boulardi All this time I continued taking 2x/day,Dr.david Williams Probiotic Advantage Colon Health extra strength(10 billion probiotic cells daily). I have read reviews of Soverign silver (individual +atoms) hydrosol and how effective it is for killing the bad bacteria externally and internally especially for cases where people are not responding to antibiotics(no side effect). Would you reccommend this for recurring c-diff infections? Thank you for your reply, Lynn Pyle lynnpyle412yahoo.com
