I have recently noticed a small bulge just above my navel . It measures about 2cms i. Diameter and disappears when pushed. When I do this it is very slightly tender afterwards. However I havnt noticed any tenderness generally . It has probably been present for a few weeks. I did notice a slight difference I the shape of the Navel over the last few weeks but dismissed it as a weight problem. I am around 13st. 5lbs with a 34 inch waist. I did go to the doctor and he confirmed my suspicion that it is a hernia and referred me. It was a bit of a shock to me as I have always considered myself healthy up u till now. I neglected to ask what time scale it is likely to deteriorate as I am planning to visit the states In 5 weeks time and am worried about the impact on my travel insurance. Should I use a surgical support to try and prevent it from deteriorating?
