I have pain in my right flank. It's worse after drinking coffee and possibly after alcohol. Stress also exacerbates the problem. I have been to a kidney specialist and he said everything is healthy. No stones, blockage, infection etc. It's not a muscle. Ibuprofen does not help. Moving does not relieve the pain. It comes and goes in bursts. I have another appointment with a general care practitioner in two weeks. This has been going on since January. 10 months now.
