I Have Pain From Behind My Left Ear And It

I have pain from behind my left ear and it becomes more sever as I feel under my neck down my neck to about the middle (all on the left)
When I feel into my neck tissue I feel my pulse. All this tissue is very painful but no glands are swollen. A nurse practitioner said I have fluid behind both ears but they don't look infected. When I move my tongue back it feels inside like a canker sore (possibly where the eustation tube drains) but it seems lower than that. If you were to look in my throat, I don't think you could see far enough down it to see where this sore feeling is. I have no sore throat in the conventional area. The pain is so bad I took a Vicodin 750 for 2 nights. The nurse gave me a zpac and I don't feel any better yet. If I lay on my left side the pressure from my neck anatomy resting over this painful tissue makes it impossible to lay on the left side. I have not problem swallowing except that the movement of my pharynx rubs against the sore gland area.
