Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a swollen lymph node behind my right ear since September. A month ago My doc ordered an ultrasound to measure it and it was 9mm, but has since grown. I have also had a few other lymph nodes swell, but they have not stayed swollen. I have been given Antibiotics, which did not help. And the doc has ordered many blood tests to determine if there were any underlying infections. There were not. Due to my family history of my mother and maternal grandfather both having had lymphoma, my doc thought that it was time for a biopsy and referred me to an ENT. The ENT told me last week that because the lymph node did not measure 1cm she did not want to do anything about it and that I should come back in a couple months. Should I ask for a second opinion? And is this something that I should worry about if the ENT just wants to watch it?
