I have had a cyst on my back for years. It got badly infected in july and I went had it looked at in August. It smelled so bad and had for about a month. The doctor said it ruptured and was infected. He cut it open and drained it and prescribed antibiotics and said I needed it removed. I saw a dermatologist last month. They gave me a steroid shot and it made the smell and draining worse. A week later they opened it and cleaned it out. After they removed the stiches a week later, it drained and smelled horrible so they put me on bactrim. 4 days later still leaking/smelling so they put me on cipro. After a culture showed no staph infection they told me to stop taking it. It is still smelling foul and leaking pus. I do mean foul. You can smell me. They say it just needs time. I am so concerned about the smell and pus. Should I go to another doctor or is this normal?
