I have had a chronic cough, a sore under my tongue on the left side, and pain radiating down my neck, under my shoulder, and into the mid-upper arm - all on my left side - since December. I have shortness of breath - especially when moving around. My doctor has prescribed Breo and a rescue inhaler (the latter gives me some temporary relief). My doctor has blamed these symptoms on systemic lupus which I have been diagnosed with 21 years ago. A tongue biopsy was negative for inflammation and cancer, my lupus bloodwork showed inactive disease (except for a slightly increased loss of kidney function attributed to Lupus CNS. I have been referred to a pulmonologist. If this isn't lupus, and it isn't cancer, what can I anticipate that the pulmonary specialist will be looking for? What other tests should I anticipate having?
