I have had a 40 year allergy to Changs in heat and cold. I have been tested for other allergies. After trying many different cough medicines, my retired family physician stopped the cough after I had coughed for 6 months, cracked a rib and ended up with pneumonia. I am not sick and don't feel sick. I start with laryngitis . I never rum a temperature. He gave me prednisone and hycodan with tussin. I I start in time (about twice a year, The cough is gone in 7 to 10 days. The dosage is 5 ml every 12 hours. However, the walk in clinics won't give me this nor has my new family physician. I am 78. I usually start with Hanover the counter could me to try to get rid of it, but they do not work. This time I have taken muzsicinex, hydrometer and now is am taking a prescription for vertussin. It is not stopping the cough and after three weeks, it is wearing me down. I used to get the hycoden whenever I went to doctor. I knew the difference between a cold and what my former doctor called a horse cough. Now, it is a control substance and nobody want to prescribe it for me now. Is there anything I can do to stop the cough that is getting deeper and deeper
