I Have Been Suffering From Painful And Difficult To Describe

I have been suffering from painful and difficult to describe facial pain. This started 10 years ago after I had viral meningitis. I have been taking klonopin for the extreme facial pain, but am on a heavy dosage of 6 mg/day and believe I have a tolerance. I wake up in a panic nearly every morning 1-2 hours before my alarm.

I have had daily chronic atypical migraines, myofacial pain, and pain living on my face for the past 10 years. I don't think I can go on like this. It's affected every part of my life from relationships to my job etc. I am barely existing and not living.

What else could help my facial pain? Could switching to diazepam help? Why would my psychiatrist not want to try it after me taking klonopin for 8 years now? What do I do when my face is in unbearable pain along with my head?

Thank you!
