I have been noticing a "rotten garbage" odor from my vagina for about 4 weeks. No discharge issues. Figured bacterial vaginosis, tried Vitamin C regimen. Worked for about a week; odor returned last Thursday. Got period Saturday (4 days ago). Just went to remove a tampon, couldn't locate string. Panicked. Thought, "maybe I took it out earlier". Thought to double check. No "fresh" tampon. However, I just discovered a tampon lodged sideways against my cervix from last months cycle (clearly explaining the foul odor). I was able to remove it, with minimal fraying. CLEARLY the source of the odor. Am horrified at the moment- newly single Mom alone w a 3 & 5yo asleep in bed. Do I need to seek medical attention immediately or at all? No fever, no abnormal cramps, no abnormal discharge. Just odor.
