Suggest Home Remedies To Treat A Red Lump Which Is Fluid Filled Near The Anal Region

I have a warm, red raised lump on my buttock. It has a slight amount of serosanguinous fluid draining. It is slightly painful. It is not near the vagina or anus but on the inner buttock about 4-5 inches to the right and posterior to the anus. I have had it for 3 days. I have had this 2 times before in the same area, and it went away on it s own. However, this time it is slightly uncomfortable and has the slight drainage which I have not had before. It is very firm and about the size of a quarter or a little bigger. Do you think this is an abcess? I haven t tried warm baths or NSAIDS yet. What do you think it might be and should I try home remedies?

Hello,

It seems like a skin infection. I suggest you use either Neosporin ointment or Mupirocin ointment, twice daily.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Kakkar S., Dermatologist
