I Have A Pedometer Provided By Blue Cross/Blue Shield That

I have a pedometer provided by Blue Cross/Blue Shield that supposedly keeps track of the number of steps I take. However, it frequently resets accidentally. I am looking for a better one. In any case, I am wondering about the "10,000 steps per day" recommendation. Isn't that awfully high for someone who has a full-time job and must commute 1/2 hour each way to that job?
