Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a good friend who is 85. She fell and had to have hip surgery. This was 5 days ago and she has not woken up from it yet. They have done all sorts of tests and say that she has not had a stroke, her heart looks good and all her vital signs are normal. Her family has put her on a feeding tube because the doctor's tell them that she should wake up soon. She is not on a ventilator or any other life preserving device, except of course the G tube. I wonder if this happens fairly often to the elderly and how long it may take for her to respond.
