I Had Excruciating Pain Down My Leg To My Foot

I had excruciating pain down my leg to my foot from a herniated disc. This lasted for three months until my left leg and foot went numb. I had my husband bring me to the ER and I had a CT scan and an MRI. Two days after the ER visit, the pain was gone but I still had a numb leg and foot. I went to a neuro surgeon and he told me if the numbness didn't seem to be going away in 6-8 weeks I would have to have surgery. It has gotten a little better, but not a lot. My ankle is getting stronger but not my toe. I can flex it but I can't lift any pressure with my toe.how long does it usually take to get back to normal and what can i do to speed up the process.
