I Don't Really Track My Period Like I Should, But

I don't really track my period like I should, but with my last one I had this nagging feeling that it was late and after looking into it i figured it was approximately a week later than usual. This period was heavier and I had more intense cramps than usual. I actually felt it in my back and it almost felt like contractions (pressure and a pushing sensation) which was odd. I actually had to take Tylenol which is unusual for me as well. I figured it was just a weird period since I had read that it can be normal. So I just started my first month of my new BC (sprintec) right after that. Now I just started week 3 of active pills and my period stated again, very light at first and it's now getting heavier and clotty but very mild cramps which I noticed come around the time a clot comes through. I've read that clots and spotting is normal. I've never had clots except for after I had my baby last year. I'm not sure if this is normal and I'm just being paranoid or not.
