I Believe I Had An Allergic Reaction Over The Weekend

I believe I had an allergic reaction over the weekend after eating mussels. I have never had a food allergy before but cannot come up with any other rational for the reaction since it came on about 20 minutes after eating them. I became itchy to the point of severe. My skin was extremely itchy all over, especially arms, ears, lower back and tops of feet. I am not itchy in the severe way that I was however am still itchy. There are no bumps and I have no visible rash or appearance that the skin should be itchy. On another note, I am allergic to seasonal ragweed, dogs and cats and am undergoing allergy shots. I am on the 2nd vile and it is more concentrated than the last vile (the doctor advised me of that). The allergist did not believe that the shots would have any relation to the itchi-ness. Is it customary that someone can have continued itching for days? What are some other things I should consider?
