I am trying to decide whether to have a fistula put in or not. My kidney function is 16 but my nephrologist says he thinks it will come back up & he doesn't recommend a fistula at this time. I attended a Kidney Class this past week & it only me question the need of getting a fistula now or not? I called my nephrologist again on Friday, talked to the nurse who talked to the Dr. & again he said he didn't think I needed one at this time but he would give me a referral if I wanted one, to think about it over the weekend & call him on Monday & let him know. Part of me knows what I should do, but another part of me says no, not if you don't have to. Please give me your thoughts on this. By the way, I am also going on the transplant list, but that could take a while.
