I am a chronic pain patient from 3 back surgeries. For 20 years I have controlled the pain with hydrocodone, 60 mgs. per day. I have never gone to a stronger drug, nor taken more than my prescription. I have always been treated by my surgeon, but now that is not possible with the new drug laws. I am83 years, live alone, and until the new drug laws came in, I have had a productive life. My doctor is limited in what he can do with hydrocodone. I do not like oxycodone,hydromorphone, etc. I am on a .25 mcg. fentanyl patch. I do not like the effects of this, but this seems to be the alternative. My doctor understands, trusts me, but for the first time in years, I am in intense pain, and have to deal with side effects of stronger medication that I want. I am getting ready to go to bed, and in my medicine cabinet is hydromorphone and oxycodone. All I would need is 15mgs. hydrocodone, but that would throw my count off. Any suggestions?
