How To Withdraw From Sertraline?

I have been on 20 mg Sertraline for the last 4 years. So far all is good. My question is what avenue should I take when my doctor says time to quit? I understand there is a period of reduced intake and I should not quit cold turkey. Can you help me out on this.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, you need to taper it down gradually.
Don't stop it all of a sudden because this can lead to withdrawal symptoms.
Usual protocol for tapering down Sertraline is
1. Take half tablet daily for 1 month.
2. Take half tablet alternate day for next 1 month.
3. Take half tablet once in three days for next one month.
4. Take sertraline as and when needed.
