Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 82 year mom is currently on namenda (low dosage). She started this medication about six months ago. We do not think it s helping her, and would like to take her off the medication. Can we just stop it, or is there a gradual progression when stopping this medication.
hi sir/mam,namenda needs gradual withdrawl.so please do not stop it as such.if she was taking 5mg daily, ask her to take 2.5mg daily for 1 week.then 2.5mg alternate day for 2 weeks and then 2.5mg once a week for 3 weeks and then you can stop.i'm happy to see your concern for your mom.hope my suggestion benefits you.take care.bye.
