How To Treat Weakness In The Arms And Legs Of An Elderly Person?
dad is 95. He may have had a T.I.A. five days ago. Symptons: sudden weakness in arms and legs so that he now needs assistance getting out of bed. Moreover, the walker is too hard to use. He is using a wheelchair and now needs support to get in and out. All of these are new; he was mobile with the walker just providing stability until last week. Lastly, following the possible T.I.A., he has been sleeping 18 to 20 hours a day. What, if anything, may be done to return the physical strength?

It really depends upon if he had a TIA (lasting less than 24 hours by definition) or an actual stroke. If he had a stroke he may need serious physical therapy to gain back his strength. Please get him to a neurologist for an evaluation and treatment suggestions.
