How To Treat Viral Infection Leading To Viral Fever,cough And Sore Throat?

I have a viral cold/infection and saw a nurse yesterday who gave me cough medicine. Last night I got a low fever (100.4ish) and developed very sore throat, with a couple white patches and horrible taste in mouth. I don t want to go back unless neccessary and there are no appointments anyway, just urgent care. Is there a need?

Hello,

The following are few treatment options for viral cold and fever:
1) Tab. Acetaminophen every 6th hourly.
2) Tab. Sinarest daily twice for 3 days.
3) Steam inhalation daily once
4) Warm salt water gargles twice daily
5) If you have yellow color sputum while coughing, it means you have superadded bacterial infection. Then you might need to take antibiotic.
Tab. Azithromycin for 3 days.
6) It takes time for viral cold and fever to come down at least 4-5 days.

If your symptoms don't subside with the above mentioned treatment, then you may need to go see a physician.
