Hello and welcome to HCM,
Vitiligo is a chronic disease and it responds to steroids.
Stoppage of medication can cause involvement of large parts of body.
Vitiligo has a waxing and waning course and it can spread rapidly to involve large parts of body.
As you have mentioned that the spots are increasing in size on stopping the medicine, you need to start with your medication.
At the same time, you need to consult your dermatologist for clinical assessment and increase or change of dosage of the drugs.

Thanks and take care
