Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my friend has a pregnant daughter in law. they just found out that the baby of 5 months has reversed ventricles? high rush doc says that they baby will not be able to breathe out of the womb so he will need an immediate surgery right after birth. are the survival rates ok? if the surgery goes well can the baby lead a normal life?
There are very high chances of still birth of such baby with brain anomaly. It would be best recommended to send the details of the baby ultrasound report with plates so that better precised guidelines can be figured out to comment further. Till that time, I can say that decision to continue pregnancy till terms is a challenging decision rather than thinking of baby surgery at birth.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
