How To Treat The Burning Pain Of The Back Of The Heel?

I have been feeling intermittent sharp, burning pain in the back of my right heal for the past 4 - 6 weeks. Pain increases and is more frequent if I wear closed shoes or shoes with a strap that goes across the back of the foot, so I stopped. Pain also increases with walking. I thought perhaps I bruised the Achilles tendon. Sometimes I have no pain, even upon palpitation. Other times, (randomly) I feel a sharp, hot, stabbing pain into the back of my heal. j
