How To Treat Sharp Pain Below The Ribs Noticed During Sneezing?

Earlier today i sneezed and felt a sharp pain just below my ribs on the left side. The pain has been getting worse throughout the day every time i sneeze. I havent coughed so i dont know if the pain will be there then. What could the problem be, if any?

Thanks for your question on HCM. Sneezingand coughing cause rib muscles to contract and any forceful act can cause sudden contraction of the muscle and thus damage it and cause pain.
So I think it is muscular pain only but I still advice chest x ray to rule out any lung pathology.
If chest x ray is clear than muscular pain will be there.
So try to do following steps.
1. Avoid heavy weight lifting.
2. Avoid movements causing pain.
3. Avoid bad postures during sleep.
4. Take good antacids with painkillers.
5. Wear chest belt so that minimal movement of affected part occur.
6. Apply warm water during bath.
