How To Treat Severe Pain In Sternum And Shortness Of Breath Caused Due To A Injury?

I m a 22 year old male. A few hours ago I was punched directly in my sternum. I m a trainer and a physical therapist. This punch came from one of my young athletes, though accidentally done he managed to properly channel energy and completely follow through with his punch. Because of the power of the punch I m not in grave pain, but I am indeed in a lot of pain. Though it s been hours later, it hurt to move upper and lower extremities, as well as to breath. I m not at a lost of breath. As a professional fighter in the civilian sector and for the United States Marine Corps, I know that this could ve been a tragic situation, had I been hit with a little more force. I haven t gone to get checked out for two reasons, one being insurance and the other being I know that besides inflammatories and rest, rest, rest, there isn t anything else to be done. Or is there? Plus I m afraid I ll go and they ll find nothing wrong and just tell me what I already know. What do you think I should do?
