Hi,

Inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST) is a condition in which the heart beats abnormally fast at rest without any underlying cause. This can lead to symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, and fatigue.

If the student with IST is experiencing severe fatigue, it may be necessary to seek medical treatment. Treatment options for IST may include medications such as beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers, which can help to slow down the heart rate and alleviate symptoms.

In terms of the student's request for a single room at college, it may be helpful for her to obtain documentation from her healthcare provider that outlines her diagnosis and the need for a quiet and restful environment to manage her symptoms.

This documentation can then be presented to the college's disability services office to request accommodations such as a single room. It's important to note that IST can be a disabling condition and should be taken seriously by healthcare providers and educational institutions.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
