How To Treat Severe Acid Reflux?

My mom has been to several doctors and they can not find a diagnosis on her pain. Her pain started after getting a biopsy for a ulcer. There was no ulcer. Yesterday I took her to another doctor. and He listen to her symptoms and all the test that had been done. the last doctor said he thinks its a bad case of acid reflux. We went to get the prescription and the doctor did not sign off on it. I don t know the name. My mother has had mri, colonoscopy, upper gi and other test.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We want upper GI finding to know if she is having hiatus hernia or something which is causing her reflex. If it is mild stages then the medical line of treatment to be given. If it is more, then go for surgery.

In medical line, you can take gastric tablets long term. with good food intake without spicy, she is able to control her reflex. Ask her to sleep 30-degree head elevation always.

After food intake not to sleep before 2 hours. After 8 p.m., no food to be taken other than juices and fruits. Just with all this dietary and lifestyle, she will be able to control her symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
