How To Treat Redness And Pain In Forearm Caused Due To Bugbite?

Male23 Yrs Old. I Believe I Have A Bug Bite On My Forearm, I Have No Symptoms And The Bite Is Probably Only About 1/4 Of An Inch Big. I Realized I Had It About 3 Hours Ago. It s A Small Red Dot. Here s What Troubles Me, There s NO Pain At All, BUT The Skin Around It Feels Damp, And Clammy. Only Around The Bite. As If It Was Sweating Only Around The Bite. I Don t Know What Bit Me, But I Have No Pain Or Symptoms, Only The Clammy Sweaty Skin Which Seems To Spread About 2 Inches Around The Bite. Is This A Serious Bite Mark?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a bug bite on your forearm, now you are experiencing pain and redness. You are suggested to wash the area of the forearm affected with warm water and medicated soap thoroughly. If you can see any stingers on the skin, remove it. Apply a little vinegar and rinse. You can apply a thick layer of ointment Soframycin or Neomycin in the area affected for relief.

To stop the spread of inflammation and pain take Combiflam or Acetaminophen, one SOS when required and antihistamines like levocetirizine, once daily for 3-5 days. Bug bite reactions commonly go away in 48 hours but in case you are getting serious symptoms like rapid heart beat, muscle spasms, confusion, etc., you are suggested to visit ER, immediately and get clinically examined. You may need urgent medical care.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
