How To Treat Popping Sensation In Shoulder?

I ve had a small pop sensation in my shoulder for awhile...it doesn t normally bother me much (I m 46 and accept that this could just be regular ware & tear on the body). However, I also conduct an orchestra 2 or 3 times a year, and only 2 or 3 days. It is at that point that I get severe pain in the shoulder and weakness in the arm and hand. I m confused as to whether to treat this like a repetitive injury and just medicate and ice each time - or if I really should get checked out for an injury that isn t healing correct. Advice?

Hi,

If the popping sensation is associated with sever pain, definitely we need evaluation even if it happens only occasionally. This may suggest a tear or inflammation of a ligament or bursa around the joint.

Kindly see an orthopedist for evaluation and management. Evaluation will be more easy when done during symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
