How To Treat Nipple Aversion And GERD?

Hello. My Daughter is currently four months old. Ever since she was born we ve had problems being able to feed her. She has been diagnosed with nipple aversion, and GERD. ThiI ve also s past week, though, the child protective services have decided to put her into custody, because they cannot understand as to why she cannot/will not be able to gain weight. I have had to take her to the hospital four previous times (including one visit where she had a Mic-Key button to be surgically inserted into her belly). I ve also taken her to Kansas City for a second opinion before the surgery. I am just wondering why, even with the doctors instructions and help, why she can only take about half of what she would typically be able to take for her age. I would like some extra advice/opinions about this. I hope that I can get some extra help for her condition, and so I can put some extra insight to the CPS workers.

From your history, it seems that the decision of the authorities to place her in the custody of CPS is incorrect and that there is no neglect from your side. While I appreciate your point of view, the reason for their decision might not be that they think you are neglecting your daughter, but that they feel that you are not competent to help her. There is a difference in this. In the second case, they are not blaming you but want the best possible outcome for your daughter, health-wise.

It is possible that she has some underlying disorder that they have still not discovered. You need to be patient with them, and with her doctors. Continue to take interest in what is happening to her, and request them to dig deeper to find out what is wrong rather than harping on your incompetence or neglect - even if those are valid accusations. Your continued involvement without seeming to be obsessed with her custody will eventually pave the way for your daughter to return to you after her diagnosis and treatment have been accomplished.
