How To Treat Multi Cystic Kidney Dysplasia In A 4 Months Old Child?

Hello My daugher of 4 months was born with Multi cystic kidney dysplasia, her right kidney is just a bunch of cysts. She is growing fine and is a calm baby, recently I have noticed her nappies are smelly after she wees like she needs a good wash. Should I check with m GP to see if this could be more serious? Thanks

Hi... even though she is normal and asymptomAtic right now, keeping in mind the background problem I suggest that you get a urine routine analysis done. If this is suggestive of urinary tract infection you need to consult your pediatrician for the management and follow up. If it is urinary tract infection she will require a repeat ultrasound abdomen also. The basic line Of management will be antibiotic treatment after obtaining urine sample for culture and sensitivity.
