How To Treat Insomnia During Pregnancy?

I am 5 weeks pregnant but have not slept well the last couple of nights. I am anxious that my lack of sleep is going to effect the baby's development at this important stage. I will try to improve my sleep and be less anxious but are you aware of how the lack of sleep can impact the baby's development at 5 weeks. I read that it is when CNS begins to develop.

Hello and welcome,

I understand your concern.

Stress and lack of exercise are the main reasons for lack of sleep. Other causes are excess use of tea or coffee and carbonated drinks.

So please avoid tea and coffee, drink fruit juices instead, regular walking morning and evening, light diet and avoid watching television or using internet till late night. Once the sleep rhythm establishes then it tends to maintain itself.

The baby is not affected by this.

As of now, do not worry and just follow the above measures and you will be alright.

Hope this satisfies your query.
