Hello,

Sorry about your husband health condition. Treatment depends upon which food pipe he injured. Injury to the oesophagus or stomach is repaired immediately. But an injury to the large bowel needs surgery.

They may do temporary colostomy after control of infection then they may do anastomosis. It depends upon the age of the patient and associated complications. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
