How To Treat Ingrown Fingernail Causing Swelling And Pus Discharge?

I had a ingrown fingernail. The side was a little swollen and i got the nail fixed and drained some pus. I thought it was all taken care of. Now 2 weeks later my finger is much more swollen. My sister decided to try and squeeze it which made the swelling so much worse. Now the whole top part of my finger is swollen with pus. What do I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. If there is more swelling there then puss could be inside. It should be drained properly by putting a small incision. You can approach a general surgeon for this. Proper antibiotic therapy also is also required. Also you should check your blood sugar levels. Once it is properly drained, antibiotic therapy and dressing with betadine ointment will help to heal.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
