How To Treat Gout While Suffering From Rheumatoid Arthritis?
I m a 36 year old woman, I just found out I have RA. For 10 years I was told I have gout so my question is what can I do when I have so many flares? I m always in chronic pain I feel like some of the doctors won t prescribe me and pain meds, because I m to young. I don t know what to do. The RA is in my feet and now moving to my hands. My life has stopped, I can t work because it s that several. What pain meds is good and give me some relief, I wake up in the night and cry because it s that bad. I m so depressed.... I need a break and these doctors tell me to take over the counter meds Aleve it doesn t work. What can I do who can help me? Thank you Kisha.
Your symptoms seem to be related to gout. I suggest to check the uric acid level to evaluate the gout condition. Meanwhile, I suggest using painkillers. I see through the query that Aleve is not helpful in relieving the pain. I recommend to use prescription painkillers. Steroid shots can also be helpful in relieving the inflammation. I also recommend cold compresses for local application.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
