Hi. My2 yr old son is just getting over a cold and I have noticed that he s got red spots on the top of his bum cheeks but nowhere else. He has also had diarrhoea today and a bad cough and has been complaining his tongue hurts but I can t see that there s anything wrong with it! Could this all be completely unrelated or does it sound like something more serious? Thanks
Hello Cough and cold due to allergy is most common in children . Due to allergy there may be red bumps ( smaller in size on bums ). This is not a serious case . When such patient visit I prescribe Azithromycin syrup 10 mg / kg body weight / day ( once in day ) for 3 days . Along this also also advise my patient to take dextromethophan +chlorapheniramine + menthol syrup ( combination pack ) . Cough and cold symptoms become alright within 2-3 days . Still , if these symptoms persist then ( >5 days ) consult a paediatrician and get his opinion. Good luck.
