How To Treat Cold And Cough In Small Kids?

Hi. My2 yr old son is just getting over a cold and I have noticed that he s got red spots on the top of his bum cheeks but nowhere else. He has also had diarrhoea today and a bad cough and has been complaining his tongue hurts but I can t see that there s anything wrong with it! Could this all be completely unrelated or does it sound like something more serious? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Cough and cold due to allergy is most common in children . Due to allergy there may be red bumps ( smaller in size on bums ).
This is not a serious case . When such patient visit I prescribe Azithromycin syrup 10 mg / kg body weight / day ( once in day ) for 3 days .
Along this also also advise my patient to take dextromethophan +chlorapheniramine + menthol syrup ( combination pack ) . Cough and cold symptoms become alright within 2-3 days .
Still , if these symptoms persist then ( >5 days ) consult a paediatrician and get his opinion.
Good luck.
