How To Treat Chest Pain After Swallowing A Small Piece Of Plastic?

I swallowed a piece of plastic the size of 5p piece on Sunday, was at hospital on Tuesday as awful pain in between Brest s gave me some tablets to take as said think I ve scratched lining when swallowed got to go back tomorrow if no better still in pain

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you swallowed plastic piece which is giving you chest pain because piece of plastic which you ingested is acting as foreign body there and causes accumulation of bacteria and debris and giving you this feel and this plastic has some hard and sharp thing that had gone inside giving small abrasion in food pipe and giving this feel. If there is only abrasions and no foreign body than your symptom will disappear in 24 hours. On the other hand if you are having any foreign body in throat than your problem keeps on persisting and visit ENT specialist immediately. Go for fibro-optic scan and with the help of fibrooptic tip get that foreign object removed. This is a minor procedure. Do warm saline gargles. If your pain keeps on persisting visit cardiologist as well once and get it examined.
