Good evening. I was prescribed phenergan with codeine a couple days ago for bronchitis. I don t have an extrememly regular cough, but it gets worse at night...and when I cough, it s pretty hard and tiresome. I was honestly suprised he d said bronchitis....but having just gotten over some viru/bug the week before,l I figured it must be some osrt of infection somewhere between my head and chest and figured the anitbiotics and cough syrup were a good go. Last night, though, it was as if the cough syup didn t work. Didn t come with any food restrictions I ate a graham cracker to get the taste of the syrup out of my mouth)...and I haven t found anything about weight-dosage (as I m a bit overweight.) I know my system is not highly sensitive to narcotics (pain meds, etc), and thus I know not to do them for a long time as my body will get addicted while I feel normal ...so I m a bit prone to be cautious anyway. Last night, though, I was so frustrated, after more than an hour I took a second dose...which I m sure is not the best thing to do. So, if I end up in the same spot tonight, do I have any better options for controlling the cough. --I will add that I regularly take generic claretin for allergies.
